For years, wood carver Mr. Meacham makes children happy with his stories about a fierce dragon who lives deep in the dark forests of the Pacific Northwest. His daughter Grace, who works as a ranger, find stories implausible.

Until she meets Peter. Peter is a mysterious boy with no home and family that claims to live together with a giant green dragon named Elliott. The descriptions Peter talks about the dragon, look suspiciously like the dragon in the stories of Mr. Meacham. Therefore, Grace goes with her friend Natalie looking for the truth.
